Badger Lane

Welcome to The Village of Badger!

I first noticed the existence of Badger about three days after PEAK Taunton 2004 came to an end. My cousin Dan had just taken a over as landlord of a pub in Wellington (near Telford). After dropping Cathy off at work, the easiest way to Telford is through the lanes between Bridgnorth and Wolverhampton. A road sign telling me to turn right for Badger obviously caught my eye!

With some time on my hands before needing to get to Wellington I decided to stop off at Badger to see what sort of place it was.

I was pleased to discover that it is a really delightful village with its own church (St. Giles) and a lake. Here are the pictures I took...

Road signs

The only clue you get to the fact that you're now in Badger (so to speak) are these road signs. Rather disappointingly there's no "Welcome To Badger" sign (or even better, a "You are now entering Badger" sign).

On Badger Lane

Badger Lane has a row of cottages at one end. To the left of this picture is the lake, and to the right is Badger House.

Car park

I parked on Badger House's car park on my visit.

Badger House

Unfortunately Badger House was closed for restoration, so this was the best picture I could get of it.

Lake and cottage

What a fantastic position for a cottage. The church is to the left of this picture.

Church and lake

Peeking out through the trees by the lake is the tower of St. Giles' church.

St. Giles

Here's the church in all its glory.

Church service prices

Fees for the parish of Badger! Significantly cheaper than Halesowen Parish Church (where Cathy and I got married), let me tell you!

Badger St. Giles

Proof of the name of the church, although "Badger St. Giles" sounds like an order to pester a saint!

Badger nursery

I toyed with the idea of getting some eggs from Badger.

Ducks at Badger

I went to Badger and all I saw were these ducks...!
